The Philadelphia Section AIHA's April technical seminar will provide a practical overview of dermal exposure modeling techniques using the AIHA Exposure Assessment Strategies Committee’s IH SkinPerm model, which is a free modeling tool. The presentation will be divided into two parts: in the first part, general dermal exposure modeling principles, a useful modeling framework, and methods for gathering inputs will be presented. In the second part, the IH SkinPerm tool will be demonstrated, attendees will be familiarized with the interfaces, and practical case studies will be presented.

This presentation is laptop-friendly, and attendees can follow along in real time (will require downloading the IH SkinPerm tool, authored by Wil ten Berge, Daniel Drolet and Rosalie Tibaldi, to their laptops using this link:

Our presenter, Josh Maskrey, a Managing Risk Assessment Scientist at Insight Exposure and Risk Sciences Group, is a human health risk assessment professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, and chemical engineer. His training and areas of expertise include industrial hygiene, quantitative exposure assessment and modeling, human health risk assessment, air emissions modeling, occupational safety, statistics and probabilistic modeling techniques, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and thermodynamics.

Josh maintains an exposure and risk assessment consulting practice focused on pragmatic problem-solving for clients with occupational health and safety needs. He has expertise in the design of occupational health assessments with both measurement and modeling components. He also has experience developing regulatory compliance programs and has provided scientific support to expert witnesses in litigation. His current research interests include quantification of consumer and non-occupational exposures to toxic chemicals, design of simulation studies to recreate historical exposure scenarios and improvement of exposure assessment methodologies.

This meeting is being sponsored by Insight Exposure and Risk Sciences Group, a scientific consulting firm with expertise in human health exposure and risk assessment.
